Kabira Mobility launches KM 3000 & KM 4000 in India

Goa based startup called Kabira mobility launched the KM 3000 & the KM 4000 for a price tag 1.27 lakhs & 1.37 lakhs respectively.

Going with the fact this was the first long term riding experience of with an electric motorcycle & the previous experience was with under-powered Yo Bikes the couple of years back & short spins with a couple of recently launched scooters it was going to be a new experience all together.

Riding an electric motorcycle is a completely different experience when compared to a one with an engine. the instant torque delivered is the moment twist the throttle is unlike any other. where your moving away from standstill. The silence is weird yet thrilling as you go faster. There are 3 riding modes in both motorcycle while one comes with TFT display & the being a fully digital LCD. Both show the same information that is the RPM, riding mode odometer. The riding modes can be change on the go.

1- Eco Mode

2-City Mode

3-Sports Mode

Personally kept it in sports mode most of the time, while just the other mode was used just check them out. The bikes also has a reverse gear but you have to be a bit careful since there is no limiter while you push the throttle in reverse.

Design may be subjective to one's liking however something innovative would have been appreciated.

The throttle response of the bikes is well managed with the riding modes. The bikes offered a good balance between ride & handling staying true to the nature with which they have been introduce which is sporty(KM 3000) & naked street fighter (KM 4000).

Pushing through the corner the KM 4000 can handle the corners much better then the KM 3000 thanks to the USD forks. The speed felt much faster then what was being indicated. The bike has a claimed range of 120 km per charge for both the motorcycles the KM 3000 can hit a top speed of 100 kmph & 120 kmph for the KM 4000 however you will have to loose out on the range if you ride in that fashion. Charge time is somewhere around 6-7 hours. Both motorcycles accelerate from 0-40kmph around the 3 sec mark.

The front brakes are quite a story which had to be discussed with the company officials you will have to grab a hand full of the levers while the rear tends to lock up easily, something we have been told that it will be worked upon after the feedback was given to the Product Head.

The ON-OFF throttle transitions can be improved. The foot pegs were too high giving a slightly awkward siting posture.

While Kabira have started taking pre-bookings on their website.

The bikes that were given to us were prototypes & the production is yet to start, we expect some more refinement in terms of the production ready models from the feedback that they received from us & other media personals that were there for the media ride.
