Well this company sells motorcycles like no other manufacturer in the country selling nearly on an average of 6 lakh units monthly. Apparently all this success doesn’t come from performance oriented motorcycles but from commuters. But the bike in question here today is not a commuter. Well it was first showcased at the 2016 Autoexpo and finally that concept has come as production form.
To start with the design of the tank cowls all in all this bikini fairing looks very beef fits the design of a 200cc motorcycle. LED tail lamp and as hero puts it the wolf eyed pilot lamps sporty black finish to the other hanging parts all in all a very conservatively design of the motorcycle which appeals to everyone. Switch gear is better than any Hero Motorcycle we have ever seen.
So what we have here is 199.6cc single cylinder 2 valve air cooled carbureted engine and overhead cam to control the valve which basically is a cam shaft which rotates above the piston which controls the 2 valves of the engine which in turn control the intake of fuel and removal of the gases of the exhausts. This engine coupled with a tail ratio-ed 5 speed transmission producing 18.4PS(8000) of power and 17.1 Nm(6500) of torque.
Moving to the instrument cluster which is an analogue digital unit. Now this unit is very basic which consists of a digital speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, with___ trip meters , and a clock and something that I love any motorcycle which is an analogue tachometer. tell tail light apart from all the basics also includes a side stand indicator , it does miss out on a gear position indicator.
The seat height is at 795mm with seat which is a single piece unit which initially felt a bit hard but riding it has become softer after sometime of usage now don’t get me wrong the seat very well contoured.
Now as we are on the topic of seat the ergonomics are very perfect for the urban environment. The foot-pegs are not much rear the single piece handlebar is not much dipped in.
I love the tank designed the 12.5 litre
hump a projector which creates the specter such that you can grip the tank very well. The gearbox was a bit clunky but this is brand new bike so I’m pretty sure it will smoothen out overtime.
Riding this motorcycle I was first skeptical about the handling because of the diamond type chassis but the chassis does offer decent feedback but what really appealed me the most is the steadiness & how rock solid the front end remains at lower speeds but as speed increases the feedback decreases. but there’s no denying the fact that 37mm telescopic forks in the front and the 7 step adjustable monoshock striking good balance between ride and handling. Well that’s very good as a daily commuter but I wanna see how this bike performs when you throw in a set of corners.
The bike stays very stable and planted the suspension doesn’t wollow out of shape even for a bit the 130 section rear and 100 section front 17 inch MRF’s offer excellent grip and feedback.
Now I know what you must be curious about this motorcycle being 200cc and just air cooled how the heat management. well after riding this vehicle for quite some time there is some amount heat which is diverted towards the legs but where this motorcycle manages to not disappoint me was the traffic. The engine didn’t overheat once even when we manure through choker block traffic.
On the braking the front the bike gets disc brake at both end and single channel ABS as standard which offers decent stopping power. The steel braded lines in the front offers good feedback. I have ridden a couple of motorcycle with single channel ABS but this is the best ABS single channel there very less feedback cut off when the ABS gets engaged. The way system works is very good
